Project Spotlight!
Omokoroa Housing Development
We’re super excited to see progress on this staged 100-lot development in Omokoroa, Western Bay of Plenty — a strong example of how medium-density housing can be executed to meet both community needs and design standards.

Project Overview:
- A mix of standalone, duplex, and terraced homes
- Architect: Designgroup Stapleton Elliott
- Client: New Zealand Housing Foundation
- Location: Omokoroa, Western BOP

From a structural point of view, developments like this are always interesting! Balancing repetition and cost-efficiency with topographical and architectural complexity. Tiered slabs, foundation transitions, and seismic resilience for varying unit types all come into play.
What’s especially inspiring here is the social impact: These homes will be offered through shared ownership, giving families in the community a real pathway to owning their first home.
A great reminder that structural design is more than numbers — it’s about building communities.
